Single-payer that excludes Insurance and Government health agencies
My approach is simpler, less expensive, and can be implemented at the community level without waiting for Legislative action. But first we must agree on what we are talking about.
At the political and public level they speak about health care for all. We speak about the burden of health expenses on both state and federal budgets. And yet I don’t think we realize the changes, the draconian measures, that are necessary to serve all with significant cost reduction. Imagine, no Medicare, no Medicaid, no SCHIPS (care for children), no insurance companies.
Many plans speak about a national system that controls physician performance including standard fees. And yet we don’t seem to realize that physicians are the key players in the system and that they are uniquely qualified. They are responsible for treatment decisions that are directly responsible for cost and must be courted not controlled.
Some want to pay for the miracle with employer assessment, co-payments, assigned portion of income tax and taxes on any citizen activity that is politically acceptable, ignoring that the federal and state governments are already using tax payer funds. There is no need to eliminate federal and state funding but just reduce it to reasonable levels. The central idea is to provide health services to all with less demands on government funds.
